The World Healthcare Organization (WHO) coordinates
international scientific development programs and consults
governments on electromagnetic radiation's effects on health.
In July 2005, following a standard health risk assessment process,
WHO experts concluded that there are no substantive health issues
related to extremely low frequency (ELF) electric fields at levels
generally encountered by members of the public.
The WHO believes that the international requirements include
many factors that protect all people, including children. According
to the WHO, present scientific information does not indicate the
need for any special precautions for use of mobile phones. If
individuals are concerned, they might choose to limit their own or
their children's' radio frequency (RF) exposure by limiting the
length of calls, or using "hands-free" devices to keep mobile
phones away from the head and body. No recent reviews have
concluded that exposure to the RF fields from mobile phones or
their base stations cause any adverse health effects.
VimpelCom also believes the safety and security of its
customers’ information is of utmost importance. The Company secures
its users’ data in full compliance with relevant legislation. To
achieve this goal, VimpelCom Ltd. introduced information protection
systems required by law and recommended by the world community.
VimpelCom Ltd. also informs its mobile customers about threats
that may cause money to be drawn down from their accounts, without
their knowledge. The Company has held more than 50 round-table
meetings in Russia and CIS since 2008, gathering experts across law
enforcement, mass media representatives, and psychologists to
address the problem of hacking.
